Mattel Toys recently completed the 50th Anniversary of their biggest toy line, Barbie, and decided to launch a Barbie doll looking like international actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Mattel approached Bachchan a few months ago in regards to this.
A source close to Aishwarya said, “Aishwarya is quite happy and thrilled that she had been approached for this honor. But she is very particular about her image and therefore didn’t want the doll to look anything that she wasn’t comfortable with.”
Continuing, “Ash’s Barbie will be very close to the real life superstar and will come complete with Aishwarya’s green eyes and her designer outfits. In fact leading designers have been approached to create both Indian and Western outfits to go with the Aishwarya Barbie.”
So cute
I guess all the little Indian girls across the world will be eagerly waiting for their Aishwarya Barbie Doll so that they can play house with their Ken. The only thing missing is an Abhishek version to go along with Aishwarya’s doll!

Desi men are now looking for new trends and designs in clothes. The Desi clothes and western styles, the formal shirts and casual suits are all moving into to world of high fashion. Furthermore the advents of new stylists and coming about of many fashion aficionados are looking to retake older trends and make them into the new fashion flavor of the month. This month, is the re-advent of the Nehru Suit. For those of you who don’t know the suit, it was named after Jawaharial Nehru, the first prime minister of Independent India. It is well know for its lack of lapels, collar and button covering layer and many ranging from Johny Carson, Joe Mamath, and even Sammy Davis Jr. took part in the PM’s fashion. However the craze lost its mojo in the later 60s along with much of that decade, and has been recently reinvented by a number of stylists, including ethnic and the more corporate – Zaras.
Recently while on a walk through the busy malls of Any-town USA I stepped into Zara, a company known for its “Metrosexual and Marliboro” fusion of clothing. At about a few steps almost in the door my eye caught a winter jacket, blue with faded gray design, without lapels, or a collar, and was designed with a layer covering the buttons. Instantly I recognized that Zara has created the first Nehru Peacoat and was apparently were doing quite well with it. The manager of the store stated it was their hottest item of the fall. I decided perhaps simply for research purposes I should buy one, yet due to the “tickle me elmo” craze behind this item, I was only left with smalls, and luckily that size does not fit…

The Pussycat Dolls have might quite name for themselves across the world in the music industry and now they’ve taken things even further!
The Pussycat Dolls were recently seen on two of America’s most watched shows, Live with Regis & Kelly, and Live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But they weren’t performing a new single from Doll Domination, or promotiong a national tour – they were singing their latest track, “Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny).
Yes! The same “Jai Ho” tack which was produced by A.R. Rahman for the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
It seems like everyone is trying to run on Slumdog’s hype, and the Pussycat Dolls aren’t waiting for this train to pass by either. They’ve even made an official music video to the track as well, releasing on March 21st, (but you’ve got to love YouTube, haha)!

Hard Kaur has stepped where no other Indian Hip-Hop artist has stepped before…the stage of hit reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.”
I’m not sure if she’s had more than ‘ek glassy,’ but when she steps on that stage, she sure lights it up on fire and shows people who’s boss!
Hard Kaur has traded her sneakers for dance shoes, and not only has she become a surprisingly good dancer, but the hardcore (no pun intended) dance rehearsals have helped her drop some pounds without hitting the gym.
“I’m very happy that I have lost my baby fat without hitting the gym. I had put on loads of weight after I came back from London. I was gorging on everything that used to come my way be it butter chicken or dal makhani, I just love food like a true Punjabi girl,” Hard Kaur said, “Due to this I had put on some weight, but I have lost it all now, thanks to the rehearsals. And the funniest part is that I’m being paid to lose weight. What else can you ask for.”
But Hard Kaur isn’t just admired by music lovers across the UK and India, she’s also made a soft-spot in hearts of the three judges, Saroj Khan, Juhi Chawla and Vaibhavi Merchant.
Hard Kaur, whose real name is Taran Kaur Dillon, became an overnight star when the track, Glassy, was released and became a super hit. After that, she made her mark in Bollywood with songs such as Move Your Body, from the film, “Johnny Gaddaar,” , the title track of “Singh Is Kinng,” and her special appearance on the track Lucky Boy, from “Bachna Ae Haseeno,” among others.
In a press conference Kaur stated, “Bollywood is in my blood. Even though I was in London for 16…

Kangana Ranaut is always making a splash in the Bollywood industry no matter what role she sets her eyes on. Now people are thinking if she’s gone over the top with her next project…
Ranaut will be starring in the biggest movie of her career, and will play the role of legendary beautiful actress Madhubala. The movie is about the underworld don Haji Mastan who was in love with Madhubala.
Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms is producing the film which has been titled Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.
A source from the movie set stated to the press, “Kangana’s selection is a good thing as although Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi were on board, the producers couldn’t shoot for a long time because Luthria was unable to select an actress. Only recently did Luthria and Ekta settle on Kangana.”
Also starring in the film are Ajay Devgan, who plays the role of Haji Mastan, and Emraan Hashmi, who plays the role of young Dawood Ibrahim.
