I met Sonam Sondhi a few weeks ago when I attended the Grand Dulhan Expo. She wasn’t a decorator or a DJ or a fashion consultant. She was the queen bee of tasty treats that evening.
The Founder and Executive Pastry Chef of Chocal8kiss, Sonam Sondhi, is a seasoned chef who has worked with some of the best in the industry. Chocal8kiss, which is based in New Jersey, provides exquisite custom created wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation, and sweet sixteen cakes. Our services also include eggless cakes, handmade chocolates, buffet style pastries, party favors, cookie boxes, and petite fours.
Talk about a mouthful! This is one Desi girl who’s got it going on in the kitchen!
As a graduate of the World’s Premier Culinary School, The Culinary Institute of America, she’s highly trained in all areas of baking and pastry. She began her career at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ under the tutelage of acclaimed pastry Chef Thaddeus Dubois.
Talk about taking a huge step in her career!
Soon after she took a position as A La Carte Pastry Chef at The Manor, a well-known fine dining restaurant in West Orange, New Jersey.
So what does Chef Sonam have to say about being a chef? “Chefs are often considered artists, but I think we surpass them. When creating a dessert you enlighten every sense, with textures, temperatures, flavor profiles, colors, and smell. The plate or cake is our canvas. By sitting with a client you can bring their personality and character into a design.”
