Twitter-ing & Facebook-ing in Education
What are the chances of every student participating in a 100 student classroom? What are the chances that every single one of those students discusses actively in a classroom discussion? I think we all know the answer; the chance is very small. This exact problem is what caused the increase in the use of technology in schools across the US. Cell phones, Facebook and Twitter are starting to become a daily part of education in schools.
As an unexpected turn, while most high schools are banning the use of cell phones, Wiregrass High School is embracing it. This high school encourages the use of cell phones as a way to exchange quick notes, browse classroom blogs, and take snapshots of the board for later studying (“3 Ways Educators Are Embracing Social Technology”). Although there may be those who misuse it, the advantages of cell phone use in education are proving to be very large. As for me, I wouldn’t mind be able to pull out my cell phone in the middle of class to text my friend some “notes”.
Twitter is by far the most used website when it comes to recent technology. As a source for questions, blogs and discussions, this communication website is proving to be very convenient for both students and teachers. Otherwise shy and quiet students are now able to ask questions [that would not have been previously asked] on Twitter discussion boards. Also, teachers are now able to monitor responses from students on the discussion boards so they know what topics to address, and how to make the most of their short amount of class time. With the help of Twitter, student engagement in classrooms has increased drastically and students and teachers are now able to easily communicate through daily used websites.

Looks like Hollywood’s top drama queen is set to be banned from entering India every again! UK’s Telegraph reported that the Indian government may add Lindsay Lohan’s name to the country’s immigration blacklist! And wouldn’t you like to know why! In December Lindsay went to India to shoot a documentary for the BBC about sex trafficking on a tourist visa RATHER than a work visa.

During these tough economics times, we all wish we could find a reliable source in which we can invest some money in, and hopefully get a nice return on it as well. When thinking through the available investment options, most people today feel that investing in the stock market is not advisable and unreliable. Though this may be true, if invested in the right companies, the stock market can work wonders and give an unimaginable return. Many people today do not think much of investing in fashion companies, though they can give you some of the greatest returns on your investments.
When looking for a company in which to invest in, most people look for stocks in technology. Such investments may question how much one can actually make, but investing in a fashion company may be a bit more reliable. Though the returns may not be as large as technology companies, the stocks in these companies are almost guaranteed to return profits. Some of the best fashion companies to invest in today include Polo Ralph Lauren, Guess, Coach, Aeropostale, and American Eagle Outfitters.

Super!
Classic!
Awesome!
A Must See!
That’s all that comes to mind after I just saw ‘De Dana Dan.’ Not to mention I saw someone I knew who walked out of the show before me and they were like, “Yo T, that RDB track is killer!” Yes, I know it is! But we’ll talk about that in a little bit!
I don’t even know where to begin about this movie. From the first few opening seconds to the very last minute, it was pure comedy! And obviously before the star-studded cast was even revealed, knowing that it’s a PriyaDarshan flick, starring Akshay Kumar just gives everything away! You’re bound to be amused!
Now onto the huge cast in the film! Akshay Kumar (as you already know), Sunil Shetty, Katrina Kaif [are all in the lead roles], but then you got Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Neha Dhupia, and Sameera Reddy who add to the masti and madness in this film! I can go on forever, but really, each character plays such a vital role and add to the comedy!
And if you’ve never been to Singapore, the movie was shot there and gives you a great look at some places you should visit…especially a certain hotel I’ve decided to stay at when I visit (and I’m not telling you which one…you’ll have to see DDD to find out!)

Facebook has reached an incredible number of users — 350 million! Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg posted a letter on Facebook. You can read it below. Fruit for thought though…I’d love to see what his Facebook page looks like and what he’s fans of. You’d think that maybe he’d have a professional and personal account on there, but I guess he just wants to stay in the background! Anyways, check out Zuckerberg’s letter. What are your thoughts on Facebook today? Is it too public? Is it not private enough? Are there too many applications, or not enough apps? What about the constant Facebook status updates? Send us your thoughts!
— Official Letter to Facebook Users —
It has been a great year for making the world more open and connected. Thanks to your help, more than 350 million people around the world are using Facebook to share their lives online.
To make this possible, we have focused on giving you the tools you need to share and control your information. Starting with the very first version of Facebook five years ago, we’ve built tools that help you control what you share with which individuals and groups of people. Our work to improve privacy continues today.
Facebook’s current privacy model revolves around “networks” — communities for your school, your company or your region. This worked well when Facebook was mostly used by students, since it made sense that a student might want to share content with their fellow students.
Over time people also asked us to add networks for companies and regions as well. Today we even have networks for some entire countries, like India and China.

The other day we told you about the party crashers, Michaele Salahi and her husband Tareq, who were uninvited to President Barack Obama’s first State Dinner with India at the White House.
Questions were flying around as to who they were, how they were invited, why they were there, and more over, HOW they got inside the White House. They apparently passed security, and were taking photos with everyone from A.R. Rahman to Vice President Joe Biden. Today pictures were released of Michaele & Tareq Salahi shaking hands with President Barack Obama. And if you look at the image, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is standing right in the background!
Apparently Secret Service checkpoint “did not follow proper procedures” to determine if the Salahi’s were on the guest list said Edwin M. Donovan, a Secret Service special agent, in a press statement.
Talk about a breach of security! Of course there was a deep investigation done in regards to this and it was shown that the the Secret Service agents did not follow protocol at a security checkpoint. Now if people like Michelle and her husband can get all the way to President Barack Obama, then anyone can get to him. I don’t think the President is too pleased about that.
Michelle and her husband, who are residents of Virginia, have been named in 16 different civil suits (at least). And if that wasn’t enough, The Salahi’s have left a huge paper trail in federal bankruptcy and state court filings.
All I’ve got to say is that the Secret Service has to step it up! Remember, this was just two aspiring reality TV stars; obviously they had no intention of hurting the President or anybody else who was there, but imagine if this was someone who had bad intentions?!…

First Lady Michelle Obama, with daughters Malia and Sasha, accept delivery of the White House Christmas tree from Eric Sundback as it is delivered to the North Portico of the White House. The 18-1/2-foot Douglas fir was planted by Mr. and Mrs. Sundback 13 years ago on their Shepherdstown, West Virginia farm.

The cost of looking beautiful is always expensive. But what if you could have the same looks, but for less the cost. Well the following are some really awesome beauty products that give you the same glamorous look for less the price of some hi-fi French product!
The Smashbox Single Eye Shadow, found at Sephora, is one of the best eye shadow products that I’ve come across. They are priced at $16 and come in over 15 colors. They are awesome, blend well with one another, and don’t fall all over your face (the glittery shadows). It also doesn’t look like you’ve caked your eyes with shadow either when you’ve got it on. So trust me, that’s a great buy!

If you’re an avid follower of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, you’ll remember contestant Ken Basin, who flew threw all the questions and even got to the million dollar question: For ordering his favorite beverages on demand, LBJ had four buttons installed in the Oval Office labeled “coffee,” “tea,” “Coke,” and what?
Though Basin didn’t win the million dollars, he showed to the world that he’s one smart entertainment lawyer! From representing major video game publishers to negotiating television hosting agreements, Ken Basin has done it all from a legal aspect! I recently had the chance to sit down and talk to this ‘law school prodigy’ and learn a lot more about the entertainment industry than I thought possible!

Well we’re still not sure if Disney Diva Ashley Tisdale and Jay Sean will be working together – however, they were both spotted having lunch together! The two met for lunch at Moe’s restaurant and spent an hour together inside, before they walked outside and said their good-bye’s with a hug.
Tisdale was wearing skin tight white jeans, with leopard print high heels. Jay, well, he was just being himself as he was wearing his classic black vest, a T-shirt inside, and black denim jeans.
I, for one, would be interested in hearing what their collabo would sound like as Ashley’s more of the rock-type singer, and Jay’s our R&B prince!

Shoplifting, the art of taking merchandise from a store without paying for it, or if I put it in blunt terms; it’s stealing. Lately, shoplifting has gotten easier and easier. Even though store owners put up security cameras to monitor what is going on throughout the entire store, people still manage to successfully steal. The greatest advantage for shoplifting is for young shoplifters.
Yup, teenage boys and girls have now entered the world of petty crimes.
Teenagers have it easy when it comes to stealing. Many kids walk into stores after school. They can easily stuff merchandise into their backpacks and purses. Large pocketbooks and huge handbags are the latest craze. Young girls can easily pretend to be looking for something in their purse and slip products in. Large handbags are not the only things that have become popular today; baggy clothing has also become popular as well. Boys like to wear baggy pants with lots of pockets. These pockets provide places for small items to hide away from the store clerk’s sight.
The generation of tomorrow has a lot of potential. Let’s just hope, for the sake of all store owners that the future of tomorrow uses their talents for something OTHER than shoplifting.
