Global Runway’s Night Out

The Global Runway’s Night Out fashion show presented at the Paramount Hotel in New York City proved to be a success.
The show was held in the lobby of the hotel under a grand sparkling chandelier and the seats were placed on top of the red carpet. The models walked down a beautiful staircase to strut the designs.
Misha Nicole will launch her store in Soho coming this fall. Her store will carry and support the designers featured in the show. Theses designers have a fusion mix in their collection. During these tough economics times, we all wish we could find a reliable source in which we can invest some money in, and hopefully get a nice return on it as well. When thinking through the available investment options, most people today feel that investing in the stock market is not advisable and unreliable. Though this may be true, if invested in the right companies, the stock market can work wonders and give an unimaginable return. Many people today do not think much of investing in fashion companies, though they can give you some of the greatest returns on your investments.
When looking for a company in which to invest in, most people look for stocks in technology. Such investments may question how much one can actually make, but investing in a fashion company may be a bit more reliable. Though the returns may not be as large as technology companies, the stocks in these companies are almost guaranteed to return profits. Some of the best fashion companies to invest in today include Polo Ralph Lauren, Guess, Coach, Aeropostale, and American Eagle Outfitters.

Manish Malhotra is one of the biggest designers in India and he knows how to rock a show.
The other day I was fortunate enough, while visiting in India, to see a live show, sitting right next to the ramp by Malhotra.
I was attending the NRI Wedding Expo (don’t get any ideas now, haha), at The Grand Bhagwati in Ahemdavad, and overheard someone talking about a fashion show later in the evening. I did my journalistic duties and came to know that the one-and-only Manish Malhotra would be in the house!
I got my fashion shoes on (Jimmy Choo Pink Pumps…$900 ouch but so worth it!) and patiently awaited the show to start. And when it started it was worth the wait! And when it did. it was worth the wait
By the looks of his collection the other night it seems as if 2010 is going to be an amazing bridal season. The colors from his upcoming collection are in multiple shades of blue and pink (surely something I am very much interested in) and he’s kept the styles traditional enough that they look modern!
Malhotra is the best at what he does and I’m sure the brides think so too; that’s why everyone was there to see his show!

Fashion Week in New York City is always one of the most anticipated and highly-respected events of the year. Of course the glitz and glamour is showcased by the big-time, banner-spreading names like Gucci, D&G, and BCBG; however, the true stars of the week are during the opening showcase at the Couture Fashion Week events. From Friday evening till Sunday night, the stars come out to play, while designers from across the world showcase their designs for the coming seasons.
As always, Bravura Artist Magazine was there, sitting right next to the runway, and mingling with designers backstage, as we attended this years events at the Starlight Roof of the world-famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
And I’ve got to admit, three years in attending, this year has been the best set of designs I’ve ever seen!
One of the designers who stood out from all the collections was Jorge Diep of the Domincan Depublic. When speaking with Bravura Artist, he told us, “Me trasladé a Ciudad de México cuando era dieciséis años para estudiar diseño de la manera,” (”I moved to Mexico City when I was 16 years old to study fashion design”). It was then in 1983 that he opened his own exclusive boutique in the city’s fashionable Zona Rosa district. ¡Cómo sorprende!
He also told us, “Quiero visitar Dubai y la India. Pienso que la India es un país hermoso y así que que es las mujeres,” (”I want to visit Dubai and India. I think India is beautiful and so are the women.”
So why do you ask Mr. Diep said this?

The lovely Slumdog Millionaire actress, Freida Pinto was gleaming from head to toe in diamonds jewelry created by the amazingly creative Harry Winston. This was during his luxury jeweler’s New York Collection launch. The evening was an elegant cocktail event, which Pinto hosted.

one outfit that is notable is green and tingling everywhere. It’s like mingling and jingling. Maybe it will be the showstopper outfit.

Couture Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious events to take place in New York City in the fall and Bravura Artist Magazine will be, right next to the runway, covering the entire event, Gala events to follow, and of course exclusive interviews with all the designers & models! Besides the fashion shows, the entertainment in between is something to look out for. This year, the artists performing are endless, but the one who I’m personally looking forward to is Alexander Markov. He has been hailed as one of the most captivating musicians in the world today. Lord Yehudi Menuhin has written, “He is without doubt one of the most brilliant and musical of violinists: Alexander Markov will certainly leave his mark on the music-lovers of the world and in the annals of the violin virtuosi of our day.”
The Gold Medal winner at the Paganini International Violin Competition, Mr. Markov has appeared with some of the world’s greatest orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, l’Orchestre de Paris, the Montreal Symphony, the BBC and Detroit Symphonies as well as the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Concerto highlights include performances with such celebrated conductors as Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit, John Nelson, Neeme Jarvi, Sir Neville Marriner, Ivan Fischer and Franz Welser-Most.
So trust me, there’s a lot more to Couture Week than what meets the eye! Hope to see you there! Ciao!

The discount chain has been trying its hand at high fashion and home decor in recent years, but that hasn’t stopped them from good old fashioned $values. There’s the Miley Cyrus/Max Azaria line similar to Forever21 and as Instyle points out, the store is also popular with the simple ladies of the HBO hit True Blood. True Blood stylist, Audrey Fisher believes Walmart dresses give the rural Louisana-based characters more credibility than if they were sporting designer outfits. Here’s to cheap!

Sooo, these are the ladies that made it through this year’s stampede. The CW revealed the latest lineup from America’s Next Top Model (Cycle 13) featuring a group comprised of students, teachers, cheerleaders and more than likely, Joel Mchale’s latest punchline on The Soup. Top Model begins September 9th with Chanel Iman as a guest judge.

Couture just got collegiate.
Sort of.
Harvard University has signed a ten-year licensing deal with clothing manufacturer, Wearwolf Group. The nation’s most eminent ivy league school will be launching a menswear line aptly titled Harvard Yard, although the line won’t be branded with its initials, but instead feature university colors in the details.
Harvard Yard is reminiscent of students lounging at the university in the ’60’s and will be at a price point of $165 to $495.
The line’s creative director, John Fowler, spoke to WWD saying, “It’s a style that has become current again and not just with the American consumer. We think Harvard Yard will have global appeal.”
Pictures of the line can be see at New York Magazine.
While it seems a surprise to many, but what do you expect from a university that also brands its waffles?
