  • Mixtape – Forces of Nature: The Sequel
    no responses - Posted 04.23.09

Last year, Bravura Artist released their first mixtape, “Forces of Nature,” which was a compilation of original production and remix tracks by some of the best urban Desi talent from our generation. This year Bravura Artist is releasing “Forces of Nature: The Sequel,” featuring artists such as AjaxxxDJ Desiplaya of Xplicit Desi VibesRajStar of Soul Tap Records, and the biggest names in the Bhangra scene, RDB & Nindy Kaur.

To give you an inside look at “Forces of Nature: The Sequel,” one of the tracks is Ajaxxx’s latest release, Ringa Ringa Riddim, which has been re-produced by Gup-E of the UK. In this track, Gup-E carefully takes Rahman’s Bollywood-based track, flips it, and gives it a very tasteful flavor of Hip-Hop. Another track featured on this release is the Kabhi Kabhi Aditi (RajStar Murder Mashup), in which RajStar has taken A.R. Rahman’s inspiring track about friendship, life & relationships and added a club-twist to it. With catchy reggae rhythms alongside the faint strings of an acoustic guitar, RajStar grabs your attention from the start of this track.

Finally, internationally acclaimed artists, RDB & Nindy Kaur are also appearing on this release. After making a second home for themselves in Bollywood, they’ve recently put out some exclusive releases. One of RDB’s exclusive tracks on this release is the Sadi Gali (Official Remix), which has been done by RDB’s friends Mixtabishi and S.S. Johal from Australia. It also features their Aussi-MC J-SKY.

Singer/songwriter Seril James loves performing – and with that said, which artist doesn’t love something which they are passionate towards. His bio quotes him as a, “savvy artist (who) has developed a three-pronged career in music, acting, and modeling, successfully merging his talents into one captivating package.”

And yes ladies, he is really multi-talented!

A native of New York, Seril has grown up in an environment full of inspiring experiences, people, and cultures including his own South Asian heritage. He began his musical journey from the start of his educational career and has continued since its completion. In college, Seril performed the National Anthem at numerous sporting events as well as singing at many of the universities cultural shows. Focused on his goal, he began to define his talents and steeled his passion and determination to produce his own musical sound.

Seril’s songs showcase his soulful voice with R&B/Pop Fusion songs, featuring infectious hooks, South Asian flourishes, and solid professional production. Currently in the studio, Seril is working on new songs for his upcoming album, but I had the chance to sit down with this super-star on the rise and talk about all his talents, and his future as a singer!

  • Catchin’ Up With KO

Over the past few months I’ve started to learn a lot more about the music industry, the time, the passion, and the dedication which is needed to make a career in this scene. When you hear the songs and watch the videos, everything seems really glamorous and easy, but I’ve come to learn that it’s far from that.

On a recent trip to Jersey to visit my “boss lady” I was hooked on this one track called “I Got You Hooked” by Baltimore-based artist, KO The Timeless. The production, his flow, (and cough, cough…the hook) was a complete package – I had to get my hands on more of him!

KO was nothing more than fun and the interview was interesting too! We talked about a whole bunch of things from being “married” to forthcoming projects, so continue and on and see what KO The Timeless had to say…

Photo Courtesy: XDV Media DesignsVimal Patel, aka DJ Desiplaya, aka The International Idol (aka can we stop with the names, ha), is the founder of Xplicit Desi Vibes – hold your breath – the #1 South Asian remix and production group in the United States. When they release a new mixtape, it becomes my latest playlist for the gym! Sorry, but I can’t help to turn up the volume to XDV while hanging out at my friends’ dorm at the University of Rochester!

“We all have a strong passion for music! Everyone in XDV has a passion for music and love what they do,” asserted DJ Desiplaya. Hailing from Oregon, this young and energetic producer has got the skills, determination, and talent needed to make it in this scene!

Having started DJing and mixing at the age of 16, he knew that music was something that he would spend ample time dedicated towards. Till date, his favorite XDV memory has been, “the chance to work with such astounding talent in the Desi scene.” I could sit here and list all the artists Vimal has worked with, but then what would you read in the article!

After many compliments and positive feedback from his latest mix, “My Kinda Girl” by Raghav and featuring Lil’ Wayne, I sat down with this producer on the rise to talk about his past, present, and future and how he can balance it all in between school, work, and of course…the ladies!

Photo Courtesy: AjaxxxOn August 28, 2008, Barack Obama became the first African-American to be nominated by a major American political party for President as he accepted his party’s nomination and presented his policy goals. And on November 4, 2008, Barack Obama became the first African-American to win the President Election, creating history for generations of the future to look back upon and remember.

As a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Barack Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. From the minute Obama stepped into the Senate and till present, Barack Obama has never forgot where he’s come from; he’s been a fighter for the working, middle-class, and that has been his prime platform throughout the entire 2008 Presidential Elections.

Now, on the day after the Presidential Elections, Orlando-based rapper Ajaxxx has released his latest track “Yes We Can (And We Did).” He starts off by rapping “I can’t believe we did it, I can’t believe it happened,” and he’s right. Ajaxxx then goes into saying that we’ve dealt with “eight years of shame here, a struggle that we can’t bear,” and how Bush has done nothing but put our country into more trouble than ever before.

“But we turned to someone else,” Ajaxxx then continues, “because we needed a change, Barack (Barack) Obama, gotta, be the one to get us outta, all this drama, comma, that we got ourselves in for tomorrow.Ajaxxx also raps about Barack’s goals for “fixing this education for this generation…plus healthcare and energy and tax breaks for the middle class,” all which were significant points during Obama’s campaign.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden both personify the change we need in this country; having elected them into the White House is the first right…

With numerous mixtape projects, national performances, and international hit tracks all under his belt, he is intent on spreading his music as people continue to join his worldwide fan-base.
