Katrina Kaif stars in RaajneetiOh my, oh my! Where do I begin? This hasn’t been a good few months for me and Bollywood. I actually walked out of Raajneeti, I couldn’t take it anymore. Enough with the politics already. Talk about a super heavy drama, my goodness!

I am not a fan of politics but I’ve concluded quite a few things after watching 3/4 of the long and drawn out Raajneeti. It seems that the public in this movie are complete idiots, the people vote for that person who gives them a cunning speech and not to that person who genuinely wants good for them. These politicians use the police as they see fit, throwing them against eachother for their own benefit. And finally, there seems to be no humans in politics. All I saw was greed and open defiance to get what one wanted at any cost.

The director Prakash Jha, famous for making movies on serious topics and getting success for every film, fails miserably this time. All his previous movies worked because he stuck to the main story till the end and the lead actor did justice with his role. But, in Raajneeti he did a different thing, he assembled a huge star cast with every actor having a potential of pulling of any movie well and a strong topic: politics, which was great but he didn’t give preference to MAIN story this time which went wrong.

  • Wrappin Up 2009 With RDB

Photo Courtesy: RDB & Nindy Kaur [Credits: Doug Sonders]RDB & Nindy Kaur have taken over everything like there’s no tomorrow. It’s only a matter of time till little kids are taking lunch boxes to school that say ‘Aloo Chaat’ with a picture of RDB or their nominated for an MTV Music Award! Trust me, it’s RDB & Nindy Kaur – anything, and I mean anything, is possible. And they’ve shown just that; if you believe in what you’re most passionate about, you can achieve the impossible.

From touring across the world to four hit songs this year to performing at the biggest wedding in Bollywood, they’ve done that plus more! Now to me, their Kuly, Manj, Surj & Nindy; but to the rest of the world their idols, role models, and celebrities.

In between performing across India and preparing for the holidays, I had the pleasure (as always *wink wink*) to catch up with these amazing musicians for an exclusive interview. For your reading pleasure, I present, one final sit-down with RDB & Nindy Kaur before the New Year!

Wow, you guys have had one heck of a year. Tell us, what was your most memorable moment 2009?
Kuly: As always touring with my brothers and sister in-law…seeing the tracks we’ve been making really light up fans faces…you just cant beat that feeling.

Manj: It has to be touring with the whole family; this includes Anoop, my son. Every time we got onto stage he would just run on and take the show over…he’s absolute nutcase just like his parents…haha!

Surj: For me it has to be the tours in India. It was great fun, and met so many new people.

Nindy: Performances and video shoos are hand-in-hand for me. But I’m going with video shoots. We shot the video for my song Akhiyan…

  • A Blockbuster Year for RDB

RDB & Nindy Kaur performing at Shilpa Shetty & Raj Kundra's wedding receptionInternationally acclaimed group, RDB (Kuly, Manj, Surj & Nindy Kaur( have had nothing less than an epic year. When taking their first steps in Bollywood with tracks as Rafta Rafta and Singh is King, these artists have soared to unimaginable heights.

2009 started off with a bang as Nindy Kaur was introduced to Bollywood with two tracks, Aloo Chaat and Boliyaan. Both became instant favorites to fans across the world, especially in India, as these tracks were featured by a few performers on the show ‘Boogie Woogie.’ With the success of their music in ‘Aloo Chaat,’ it was understood that more was to come from this unmatched group. Following Aloo Chaat, their next major hit was Om Mangalam, from the film, ‘Kambaqtht Ishq.’ The track was featured in all the movie promos across the world and landed the #1 position on many Bollywood music charts as well. And if three songs wasn’t enough, RDB have ended the year with one last Bollywood project; they re-composed their worldwide hit, Paisa, for Akshay Kumar’s latest film, ‘De Dana Dan,’ featuring Manak-E. The track has become so successful that it’s held the #1 spot for the past five weeks.

Aside from their Bollywood projects, RDB and Nindy Kaur have been traveling the world, performing for thousands of fans in the US, Canada, UK, Dubai, and India, to say the least. They’ve even took over some of the largest theme parks in the US, over the summer, as RDB & Nindy Kaur were touring, giving away CDs, and meeting their fans.  When asked about this experience, Manj stated, “It was great performing in front of all the crowds at the theme parks; plus we got to go on the rides too, haha!”

  • De Dana Hit

'Paisa' by RDB feat. Manak-E from 'De Dana Dan'Super!

    Classic!

    Awesome!

    A Must See!

That’s all that comes to mind after I just saw ‘De Dana Dan.’ Not to mention I saw someone I knew who walked out of the show before me and they were like, “Yo T, that RDB track is killer!” Yes, I know it is! But we’ll talk about that in a little bit!

I don’t even know where to begin about this movie. From the first few opening seconds to the very last minute, it was pure comedy! And obviously before the star-studded cast was even revealed, knowing that it’s a PriyaDarshan flick, starring Akshay Kumar just gives everything away! You’re bound to be amused!

Now onto the huge cast in the film! Akshay Kumar (as you already know), Sunil Shetty, Katrina Kaif [are all in the lead roles], but then you got Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Neha Dhupia, and Sameera Reddy who add to the masti and madness in this film! I can go on forever, but really, each character plays such a vital role and add to the comedy!

And if you’ve never been to Singapore, the movie was shot there and gives you a great look at some places you should visit…especially a certain hotel I’ve decided to stay at when I visit (and I’m not telling you which one…you’ll have to see DDD to find out!)

  • Ouch Ranbir!
    no responses - Posted 12.11.08

We always hear about actress going at one another for lead roles in movies…but what about an actor going at it with an actress?!

Apparently Ranbir Kapoor hit Katrina Kaif on her nose so hard that she fell on ground yelling in pain! And no, it wasn’t because he wanted to be the lead with Akshay Kumar in his next movie! Apaprently they were shooting for the film “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani,” the incident happened and Katrina was rushed to a doctor and the film shooting was cancelled!

One of the grew members leaked out to the press that “an elaborate set was created at Madh Island and it was a chase sequence where Ranbir and Katrina were supposed to be running away from some goons. All was fine till the point where Ranbir needed to suddenly turn around. He did that but in the bargain hit Katrina’s nose with his hand and the delicate actress went tumbling to the ground. She was in great pain but realised that it was unintentional, so she didn’t complain.”

Let’s hope this doesn’t cause Katrina to get some nose jobs done like Ms. Shetty…oooo…yes, low blow! This is Mona signing out!

  • Top 10 Bollywood Couples
    no responses - Posted 12.07.08

Once a couple creates brilliant on-screen chemistry, the paparazzi is always the first to stat rumors that something is happening between the co-stars in real life. Yes, there’ve been times when these on-screen romances turn into off-screen ones, but most of the time the actors remain as “just good friends.” With 2009 coming in a few weeks, I thought it’d be nice to look at some of the most “talked about” couples…on and off screen!
